I'm gaining speed in reading Swahili!
When I started this book (after listening the @languagetransfer's Swahili course), my reading speed was about 30 minutes per page, as I'm heavily relying on dictionary (because there is nothing like general European vocabulary that would make guessing words easier).
Now, at page 68, my reading speed is about 7 minutes per page. Still using dictionary heavily, but all the time less and less.
I can do this!
I finished the @languagetransfer 's Swahili course today and started reading a novel with a dictionary right away. First four pages took two hours! 😓 But I understood the main points of what was happening and mostly also who was doing what!
I'll expect this to get a lot faster soon.
(The book, by the way, is Sauti Ya Kevin by Alfred Shemweta, the only Swahili novel in our local library.)
