the May Day episode of Srsly Wrong opens with a panel on May Day the various celebratory pagan spring festivals as part of working-class culture and how this relates to May Day the workers’ movement watershed (historically, symbolically). srslywrong.com/podcast/230-a-c

and now I feel like a terrible witch for never having noticed that, it’s so clear in retrospect. of *course* the opening salvo of protest season would be in the full-spring festival. of *course* the burgeoning class of capitalists tried to forbid people from decorating may poles with ribbons, right there at the start of the whole thing with the seizing of the commons and the burning of witches (per Federici). of *course* the kind of work ideologue, right and left, who believes in the morally edifying value of work in itself, would have denounced May festivals as corrupting degeneracy – both the kind where you carry around sticks with ribbons, and the kind where you carry around sticks with signs.

Snarking at techbros

There's this brand of spread cheese called Crême Bonjour, pronounced frenchly.

Which gave rise to the idea of Crême Borjomi, a drink made of Borjomi and smetana, and pronounced frenchly.

I'll think about this for a while to see if I'm strong enough to try this out.

Amazing stuff...

"While the growing movement for the right to repair has succeeded in giving a new name and visibility to issues affecting people and communities all over the world for a long time, it’s time we unite efforts globally to achieve a universal right to repair, and ensure that repair, reuse and e-waste prevention become the norm everywhere."
